Fall is in the air

Football season has begun, and fall is in the air. Fall is the worst time of year for my allergies, and yesterday they attacked with a vengence. Whenever I feel bad, I begin to think of ways to live a healthier life.
Fall is also apple season. Apples offer us about 5 grams of fiber which helps lower our cholesterol. Some studies show that apples can help us fight colds, lower our weight, increase our metabolism, and prevent some cancers. They are full of antioxicants and only contain about 100 calories.
I think I'm going to head out to the grocery and stock up on a bunch of apples.

  1. This is a true story. Please remember, I'm a native Texan and travel very little. I was grocery shopping, got lost in my head browsing through an unfamiliar store while waiting for my friend and spotted a bin of the biggest apples I have ever seen in my life.
They were the size of small melons and I thought "Oh wow, those must be Washington state apples!"
Then I remembered I was IN Washington state. Forks, Washington to be exact (The home of the Twilight series.) Talk about feeling like an idiot =)

  2. Hmm, I'm suddenly craving apples. I love this time of year when they're fresh picked. :)

  3. I bet those Washington state apples really are good in Washington.
I bought some apples today, but might try to make it to a local orchard next weekend.
