K is for 5K
Have you noticed how many people are running 5K races now? They've become very popular. Yet our nation has an epidemic of obesity. I'm not sure I understand how both things can be on the rise.
My oldest son married a runner. So Bill has begun running too.
He participated in Extreme Rampage with his brother-in-law, Caleb Benge, and sister-in-law, Sarah Benge Clifton.
One of the healthiest times of my life was when I ran. So I've decided to begin running again. I probably won't do a 5K, but we'll see what happens.
Here's my plan for transitioning from walking to running.
Week One:
Monday: Run 3 min/Walk 2 min; Repeat six times.
Tuesday: Walk
Wednesday: Run 3 min/Walk 2 min; Repeat six times.
Thursday:Walk
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Run 3 min/Walk 2 min; Repeat six times.
Sunday: Rest
Run-Walk Workout: Warm-up by walking five minutes at a brisk pace. Begin my run/walk intervals. Then cool down and walk last five minutes.
Do you run? I'd love to hear your suggestions.

No way do I run- against my religion. :) Just kidding. When I'm not fighting joint disease, then I do walk. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to jog. But even when I WAS in shape & could walk (I used to walk 5 miles a day), I never had the stamina to jog. Now, I don't even have the stamina to walk. I need to get back into the swing of things. Swinging! Hey, that might be something to do! ;-]
ReplyDeleteI've always thought it would be cool to be able to say I did a 5K. Maybe someday. Right now the knees are telling me no way. :-) I was a jogger in my late teens/early 20s. But that was many, many donuts ago!
