Rainy Vacation Days

We all want perfect weather when we go on vacation. This year my family joined together for vacation in Holden Beach, NC.

The week started out with high hopes of bike rides and fun in the sun.

However, it rained, and rained, and then rained some more. We'd come from KY, TX and SC for this week, and we refused to let rain take away our fun.

One day we went to a family fun center where both granddaughters bowled for the first time. The oldest even got to play laser tag.

Another morning, we had a girls' morning out and made pottery.

We played lots of games inside and enjoyed being together. We went out for ice cream and even shopped a little.

These were just some of the things we did during the rain. We were so happy to be together, we enjoyed every minute of Vacation 2018. I hope you're able to enjoy some fun family time this summer.

Spreading the Word One Shell At a Time

Saturday we went for a walk on Holden Beach. No matter how many beach trips we take, I can't help but notice the shells.

This time I noticed something different. There was a message in a shell.

I walked a little farther and found more shells with scripture and inspirational messages.

And then I found this...

Acts 2:32 NIV says, "God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it." Whoever thought of these shells found a creative way to share the word. I hope we can all find ways to spread the Good News.

Anticipation

Webster's Dictionary defines anticipation as, "the act of looking forward; especially : pleasurable expectation."

Last week I couldn't wait for the University of Georgia to arrive in Lexington, KY to play football.

I flew our UK and UGA flags all week in anticipation. The big day finally arrived and, the Dawgs won, but it wasn't pretty. Still, it was a win.

Now I'm looking forward to vacation at Holden Beach, NC.

I've already packed books I want to read, snacks and my camera. Next up, clothes.

I heard a hurricane may hit the east coast on Halloween. But I'm so looking forward to this trip that even a hurricane is not diminishing my anticipation.

I love Holden Beach, rain or shine. I'm looking forward to walks and bike rides I'll take with my husband.

For the first time, we'll be there for the Sea Turtle Festival and plan to check that out. We'll visit our favorite restaurants, because I don't plan to cook on vacation.

There are lots of events I look forward to, but none are more important than the day I'll meet Jesus face to face.

I hope you have a great week!
